More and more organizations are beginning to view Digital Transformation as a non-negotiable matter of survival. Digital leaders consistently outperform their peers in every industry and a number of small, agile organizations have displaced their larger more-established counterparts making some executives hot under the collar.

Cloud computing was a once polarizing topic that inspired countless debates in IT circles but has grown to become one of the most important innovations of the last 30 years. Simplifying business processes and giving organizations the ability to store and use information in a secure manner while collaborating without the need for complex systems of equipment and costly software packages is truly revolutionary.

Inside pop-culture there has long existed an obsessive need to express romantic and at times catastrophic visions of the future. Films, pulp novels, television and radio have projected and perhaps influenced the arc of our technological growth, in some instances predicting technologies that have now become reality (driverless cars anyone?).

Unless you’ve had your head under a rock the term ‘Digital Transformation’ should be familiar. Within the tech community the topic is everywhere, taking over our news feeds and giving marketers endless fuel for list articles (like this one) and carefully crafted Twitter posts.

Earlier this year I asked our readers to consider the idea that email has reached its apex and is spiraling toward obsolescence. Understandably the question raised some eyebrows; we are dangerously attached to our email accounts.
